Home About Us Message From Father John Baptiste
Dear Saint Joseph Parishioners,
Saint Paul the Apostle, in the letter to the Roman 12:5-8 said: “We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve: if it is teaching, let him tea h; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is mercy, let him do it cheerfully.”
Each of us have something to give. We can give our money, we can give our time, and we can give our talents. The gifts we have received are not ours alone. God gave them to us for the purpose of serving Him and serving other people. When we give our gifts to others we don't have less, but in fact, when we give and serve others, it brings more to our lives. Service and gifts to others bring meaning and fulfillment to our lives in a way that wealth and possessions alone cannot.
God asks us to give from our hearts. The point is this: “He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that you m ay always have enough of everything and m ay provide for every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:6-8.
This past year, Saint Joseph Church has been blessed by the generosity of our Parishioners. In our last Stewardship Campaign 180 families pledged financial support, and we have received 97% of those pledges to date. Your contributions have enabled us to meet all parish operating expenses. In addition, your contributions to our Restore/Repair/Improve/Repair Fund have allowed us to meet the needs of our aging Church. This past year, the roof of the Parish Life Center was repaired, the carpeting in the Sacristy was replaced with tiles, and gas lines were installed.
Prior to Commitment Sunday, I ask you to pray with your family to discuss how you can support our Parish with your time, talent and treasure. We give back to God of our treasure as an act of recognition and thanksgiving for God's provision to us. God expects us to be generous even if our financial resources are not much. We are answerable to God for how we make and use the talents and abilities that He has entrusted to us. Can you use your time and talents to bless our Parish Com m unity that you belong to?
I know that the Parishioners at Saint Joseph are faithful stewards, already giving of your time, talent, and treasure. I know that you already make sacrifices to support our Parish. I invite you to continue and perhaps increase the level of your giving during this campaign. Making a weekly commitment of any amount at this time would be an important difference for our Parish Community.
Please let us know if we can be of assistance to you or your family in any way. You can find out more about our Parish life ministries, Saint Joseph School and the sacraments on our website, www.saintjosephchurchnashville.org.. Thank you for your commitment to the Parish.
Sincerely In Christ,
Rev. John Baptiste
