During the months of March and April, the focus of the Sunday Scripture Class will be on several psalms of Book One of the Psalter, psalms numbered fifteen through twenty-nine. Book One Psalms are largely individual or communal laments, composed by David during his flights from his enemies, King Saul and his sons. Both authors select Psalm 22, one of the seven words spoken by Christ from the cross and Psalm 23, better known as the Good Shepherd Psalm as very important psalms for all Christians.
Words to Remember:
Psalm 15: “Who shall dwell on your holy hill? He who walks blamelessly and does what is right.”
Psalm 19: “The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.”
Psalm 22: “Yet you are he who took me from the womb; you kept me safe upon my mother’s breast. Upon you was I cast from my birth and since my mother bore me you have been my God.”
Psalm 23: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for you are with me.”
Psalm 27: “I believe I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
Psalm 29: “The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, upon many waters.”
